Nobunaga no Yabou: Haouden is a turn-based strategy game set during Japan's Sengoku period. Players take on the role of a daimyo (feudal lord), starting with a small territory and aiming to unify all of Japan. Gameplay focuses on managing your territory, developing the economy, building an army, and fighting other daimyos.

Territory management involves collecting taxes, constructing buildings such as castles, cities, and military facilities. Players need to balance economic development with military buildup to prepare for upcoming wars. Diplomacy is also a crucial aspect of the game, allowing players to form alliances, arrange marriages, or declare war on other daimyos.

Battles take place turn-by-turn on a battlefield map. Players control their army units, including infantry, cavalry, and archers. Tactics and terrain play a significant role in achieving victory. The choice of army units, deployment positions, and the use of special skills all affect the outcome of the battle.

The game features various scenarios, allowing players to experience different historical periods and choose different daimyos to play as. Each daimyo has their own strengths and weaknesses, influencing the player's gameplay and strategy. Nobunaga no Yabou: Haouden requires a combination of strategy, diplomacy, and resource management skills to successfully unify Japan.
