Introduce

In Paperboy 2, players take on the role of a newspaper delivery person, choosing to play as either the titular Paperboy or the new Papergirl. Your primary objective is to successfully deliver newspapers to subscribing households along a challenging route. The game unfolds over several days, with each day presenting a new route filled with different obstacles and surprises.

Your goal is to accurately throw newspapers into the mailboxes or onto the doorsteps of your subscribers (distinguished by their brighter house colors or open mailboxes). Precise deliveries earn higher scores. Conversely, non-subscribing houses (typically darker or with closed mailboxes) can be vandalized by throwing papers at their windows or other objects for extra points, though this might lead to losing subscribers on subsequent days.

Along the way, you'll encounter a myriad of obstacles and hazards. These can include fast-moving cars, aggressive dogs, unexpected pedestrians, automatic sprinklers, and even more bizarre elements like tornadoes and ghosts in later levels. Players must skillfully maneuver their bicycle and time their paper throws to avoid these dangers. Colliding with an obstacle will result in losing one of your precious lives.

Paperboy 2 retains the core gameplay mechanics of its predecessor while introducing some new features. Most notably, players now have the option to choose between a male or female character. Additionally, the ability to throw papers backward has been added, which can be a useful maneuver in certain situations. At the end of each day, a special training course awaits, where you can earn bonus points by hitting various targets.

Managing your paper supply is also crucial; you'll need to collect additional bundles of newspapers along the route to ensure you don't run out before completing your delivery. With its isometric 2D graphics and addictive arcade-style gameplay, Paperboy 2 offers a challenging and fun newspaper delivery experience on the NES platform.
