NHK Gakuen - Space School - Sansu 6 Nen (Jou) is a unique educational game for the NES, designed to help 6th-grade students in Japan review and solidify their math knowledge in an engaging way. The game casts players as students at a "Space School," where learning mathematics becomes more exciting than ever before.

The core gameplay revolves around solving arithmetic problems appropriate for a 6th-grade curriculum. Players will encounter various types of exercises, from basic calculations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, to more complex concepts such as fractions, decimals, ratios, and potentially simple geometry. Problems are presented in a multiple-choice format or require direct numerical input. Players use the NES controller to select answers or input data.

Each stage or mission in the game often features a specific space theme. For example, players might have to "pilot" a spaceship to a planet to solve a series of math problems, or participate in mathematical "challenges" to "upgrade" their spacecraft. Correctly answering questions helps players progress, unlock new areas in space, or earn virtual rewards.

The game not only focuses on testing knowledge but also strives to make the learning process captivating. The space-themed visuals and sounds, along with humorous characters and situations, help maintain player interest. The ultimate goal is to help students master essential mathematical knowledge naturally and without pressure, through a star-studded educational adventure.
