Introduce

Ganso Saiyuuki - Super Monkey Daibouken is a unique action RPG released on the NES, based on the classic novel Journey to the West. Players take on the role of Sun Wukong (Son Goku), embarking on an arduous journey to escort Xuanzang (Sanzo Hoshi) along with Zhu Bajie (Cho Hakkai) and Sha Wujing (Sa Gojo) to retrieve Buddhist scriptures.

The gameplay of Ganso Saiyuuki - Super Monkey Daibouken combines two primary perspectives: an overhead view for world exploration and a side-scrolling view for combat encounters. When navigating the world map, players will encounter NPCs to gather information, buy and sell items, and receive quests. Areas such as villages, caves, and temples are all depicted from this overhead perspective.

Upon encountering enemies, the game transitions to a side-scrolling combat screen. Sun Wukong will use his Ruyi Jingu Bang (Nyoibo) staff as his primary weapon to attack foes. Additionally, he can utilize various magical spells and special abilities, such as transformations or summoning the Flying Nimbus (Kinto'un) to move faster or overcome obstacles. These abilities often consume energy points or are learned throughout the game.

RPG elements are clearly evident as Sun Wukong can level up after defeating enemies and accumulating enough experience. Leveling up will make him stronger, allow him to learn new techniques, and increase stats like health (HP) and magic points (MP). Players can also find or purchase various equipment and items to enhance their character's power.

The ultimate goal is to overcome countless challenges, defeat demons, rescue companions, and complete the mission of retrieving the scriptures. The game stands out for its flexible combination of exploration and combat, offering a challenging and engaging adventure experience.
