In Baltron, players take control of an advanced spacecraft in a relentless battle against invading alien forces. This is a classic vertical-scrolling shooter, where the screen continuously moves upwards, thrusting the player into intense and challenging aerial combat.

The primary objective is to shoot down countless enemies appearing from all directions while skillfully dodging their attacks. Your spaceship is equipped with a basic weapon, which can be upgraded by collecting power-up items dropped by defeated foes. These power-ups may include increased movement speed, enhanced firepower (such as wider shots or faster firing rates), or the addition of "options" – small satellites that accompany your ship, significantly boosting your offensive capabilities.

Each stage in Baltron is designed with various enemy types, ranging from small ships moving in formations to larger machines with complex attack patterns. At the end of each level, players will confront a massive boss, requiring agility and strategic thinking to evade their special attacks and discover their weak points. Players have a limited number of lives, and if the spacecraft is destroyed after all lives are lost, the game ends. Scores are accumulated based on the number of enemies defeated and items collected, encouraging players to aim for the highest score possible.
