Arctic (Japan)

In Arctic, players control a brave penguin on a mission to rescue animals trapped in the icy reaches of the Arctic. The primary objective of each stage is to unfreeze all the animals present on the screen.

The gameplay revolves around navigating the penguin across ice blocks. The penguin slides in a straight line until it collides with an obstacle such as a wall, another ice block, or falls into the water. Ice blocks can be pushed, allowing players to create paths or free animals trapped within them. However, players must be careful, as some blocks can block paths or trap the penguin.

Each stage features a unique layout of ice blocks, obstacles, and enemies. Enemies include polar bears, walruses, and seals, which move along various patterns. Contact with an enemy results in losing a life. Falling into the water also results in losing a life.

To aid in the mission, the penguin can collect special items:

• Pickaxe: Allows you to break certain ice blocks, opening paths or accessing locked areas. It has limited uses.
• Fish: Temporarily freezes enemies, giving you time to safely move past them.
• Invincibility: Makes the penguin immune to enemies for a short period.

The game features multiple stages with increasing difficulty, requiring players to think strategically about moving ice blocks and overcoming obstacles. Rescuing frozen animals, breaking blocks, and avoiding or neutralizing enemies will earn you points. Arctic is a challenging puzzle game that demands skill and logical thinking.
