America Daitouryou Senkyo is a unique political simulation game on the NES, thrusting players into the heart of the United States presidential election race. The primary objective is to win the election by garnering support from various states and voters.

At the beginning of the game, players choose one of three candidates, each possessing distinct strengths and weaknesses regarding finances, experience, and voter appeal. The game then progresses through different stages of the campaign. The initial phase is the primary election, where you must secure your party's nomination. This requires you to travel between states, organize campaign rallies, give speeches, and fundraise.

The game interface displays a map of the United States, allowing you to select states to visit. Each state has a different number of electoral votes and varying initial levels of support. Players must manage their campaign budget wisely, as every action, such as holding rallies, running TV advertisements, or hiring staff, costs money. You will also face random events that can impact your campaign, ranging from scandals to positive news.

A crucial part of the gameplay involves debates. Here, you must choose appropriate answers to questions about policy, economy, and social issues to increase your approval ratings and impress the public. Skillful answers can significantly alter the course of the race. Voter sentiment and your popularity are represented through numbers and charts, helping you make strategic decisions. The ultimate goal is to secure enough electoral votes from the states to win the presidential election.
