Introduce
In Alex DeMeo's Race America, players embark on an exciting cross-country racing journey across the United States on the NES. The primary objective is to be the first to complete the entire trek.
Upon starting, you select one of the available cars, each possessing unique characteristics in terms of speed, handling, and durability. The game unfolds across long stretches of road, where you control your vehicle from a pseudo-3D perspective, avoiding other traffic, obstacles, and road hazards.
Gameplay isn't just about pure speed racing. Players must carefully manage crucial resources such as fuel and car damage. Running out of fuel or sustaining too much damage will force you to stop for refueling or repairs, which costs both time and money. Money earned from completing race segments or found on the road can be used to upgrade your vehicle. Upgrades include engine enhancements for increased speed, tires for better grip, armor to reduce damage, and larger fuel tanks for extended range.
Each state you traverse presents different terrains and landscapes, adding variety to the racing experience. The combination of driving skill, resource management, and strategic car upgrades is key to winning this cross-America racing marathon.
