In The Adventures of Dr. Franken, players control Franky, a monster created by Dr. Franken. Franky's main mission is to collect the scattered body parts of his girlfriend, Bitsy, in order to reanimate her. This journey takes Franky through a variety of diverse and perilous locations.

The gameplay is primarily a platformer, where players must navigate Franky through complex levels, jumping over obstacles, avoiding traps, and confronting various types of enemies. Each level is designed with multiple layers and hidden paths, encouraging players to explore to find Bitsy's body parts as well as other supporting items.
