Wario Land II (GB)

In Wario Land II, players control Wario on his adventure to reclaim his stolen treasures from Captain Syrup and her pirate gang. The most unique aspect of this game is that Wario has no health bar or lives. Instead, when Wario is hit by enemies or encounters environmental hazards, he doesn't die but transforms into various different forms.

Each of Wario's transformations grants unique abilities, which are essential for overcoming obstacles and solving puzzles. For example, being crushed turns Wario into Flat Wario, allowing him to slide through narrow gaps. Getting stung by a bee transforms him into Fat Wario, enabling him to smash through sturdy blocks. Or being set on fire turns him into Flaming Wario to run fast and break walls. Understanding and correctly utilizing these transformations is key to progressing through the game.

The level structure in Wario Land II is also quite distinctive. Instead of being linear, many levels feature multiple secret exits, leading to different story branches or chapters. This encourages players to thoroughly explore each stage to uncover all secrets and hidden treasures. The primary goal is to recover all lost treasures and coins, as well as to explore the entire game map. The game also includes small mini-games to earn extra coins.
