These goals often include reaching a specific score, collecting the letters S-K-A-T-E, finding hidden items, or executing specific trick combos.

The gameplay of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (GBC) revolves around performing tricks and chaining them together into combos to achieve high scores. Players can execute fundamental moves like ollies (jumps), grinds (sliding on ledges), manuals (balancing on two wheels), and reverts (quick direction changes after landing) to maintain a combo. Each trick performed adds to the score, and combining various tricks into a single combo significantly multiplies the points. Special tricks, unique to each skater, can also be activated when the Special meter is full, yielding massive scores.
