Introduce
Tetris Attack (the Game Boy Color version) is a unique match-3 puzzle game, completely different from the traditional block-stacking mechanics of Tetris. The core of the game revolves around players horizontally swapping adjacent colored blocks to form rows or columns of three or more blocks of the same color. When blocks are successfully matched, they disappear, and blocks above them fall down to fill the gaps.
A distinctive feature of Tetris Attack is that the playfield continuously rises from the bottom. Players must quickly clear blocks to prevent the screen from reaching the top. If the blocks touch the top of the screen, the game ends. To achieve high scores and hinder opponents (in Versus mode), players need to create chains and combos. A chain occurs when clearing one group of blocks causes other blocks to fall and automatically form another match. Combos are created when multiple groups of blocks are cleared simultaneously.
In competitive or challenge modes, players can send "garbage blocks" to their opponents. These garbage blocks are unmatchable rows of blocks that can only be cleared by matching regular blocks directly beneath them. Mastering chains and combos is key to effectively attacking opponents and defending your own screen. The game features various modes such as Story Mode, Versus Mode, Time Attack, and Puzzle Mode, offering a diverse experience for players.
