Introduce

Tarzan (USA, Europe) on Game Boy Color is an engaging 2D action-adventure platformer that faithfully recreates the storyline of the classic Disney animated film. Players take on the role of Tarzan, from his childhood to adulthood, navigating numerous challenges within the African jungle.

The core gameplay of Tarzan revolves around traditional platforming levels. Players must jump over obstacles, swing on vines, slide down trees, and swim through submerged areas. Each level is uniquely designed with various enemies and secrets to uncover. Tarzan can attack enemies by throwing fruit or using his knife once acquired. Collecting Tarzan coins scattered throughout the levels is a secondary objective, with 100 coins granting Tarzan an extra life.

During gameplay, players also need to collect the four letters T-A-R-Z to unlock bonus levels, where Tarzan can gather additional lives and valuable items. Enemies include various wild animals such as monkeys, snakes, leopards, and particularly dangerous poachers. Each enemy type has its own attack patterns and weaknesses, requiring players to employ appropriate strategies.

The game also features intense boss battles at the end of some major levels, where Tarzan must confront primary antagonists from the film, like Sabor or Clayton. These battles often require players to learn the boss's attack patterns and exploit their weaknesses. The game's graphics are highly praised for their vibrant colors and detail, effectively utilizing the GBC's capabilities to deliver a vivid visual experience for players.
