Introduce

Taisen Tsumeshougi is a Shogi puzzle game for the Game Boy Color. The game focuses entirely on Tsumeshogi, also known as Shogi checkmate problems. Players are presented with a specific Shogi board setup, and the goal is to find the exact sequence of moves to checkmate the opponent's King within a limited number of moves, often very few (e.g., 1-move, 3-move, 5-move).

The gameplay of Taisen Tsumeshougi is simple yet requires logical thinking and foresight. The screen displays the Shogi board with pre-arranged pieces. Players use the GBC's controls to select the piece they want to move and determine the destination square. If the move is correct, the game continues or signals problem completion. If incorrect, players can retry. The game features various difficulty levels, from basic problems for beginners to complex challenges for experienced Shogi players. Each Tsumeshogi problem has a unique solution that players need to discover. This is an excellent way to train Shogi skills, especially calculation ability and recognizing checkmate patterns.

Taisen Tsumeshougi does not include a competitive Shogi mode, focusing solely on solving problems. This makes it an effective learning and training tool for anyone looking to improve their Shogi proficiency.
