Introduce

The game is Spy vs Spy (Europe) for Game Boy Color, based on the popular Mad Magazine comic strip. Gameplay involves two spies, Black Spy and White Spy, competing to collect secret items such as a briefcase, blueprints, money, and a key, and then escape the embassy before the timer runs out. The game is played from an isometric perspective, showing multiple rooms of the embassy.

Players control one spy and navigate through the building. The core mechanic is setting traps for the opposing spy. Traps can be placed on doors, objects like chairs or safes, or on floors. Examples include bombs, springs, buckets of water, and booby-trapped items. When the opponent triggers a trap, they are temporarily knocked out, giving the player time to escape or collect items.

Players also need to disarm traps set by the opponent. This involves using specific tools such as scissors for wires, an umbrella for water, or a bomb defuser for bombs. The game features a split-screen mode for two players, allowing competitive head-to-head action. In single-player, the AI controls the other spy. The goal is to collect all required items and reach the exit, such as an airplane, before the other spy or the time limit expires.

The game emphasizes strategy, timing, and quick thinking, as players must anticipate their opponent's moves and efficiently manage their inventory of traps and disarming tools. The GBC version retains the charm and competitive nature of the original, adapting it well to the handheld format.
