Smurfs, The (GB)

In The Smurfs, players embark on a colorful 2D side-scrolling adventure as Papa Smurf. Your primary objective is to rescue the other Smurfs who have been kidnapped by the evil wizard Gargamel and his cat, Azrael. The game takes you through various familiar environments from the Smurf universe, including lush forests, the peaceful Smurf Village, and even Gargamel's ominous castle or laboratory.

The gameplay centers around classic platforming elements. You will need to guide Papa Smurf by jumping over obstacles, avoiding, or dispatching enemies such as spiders, bats, snakes, and other creatures. Papa Smurf can typically attack by jumping on top of enemies or by using certain special items if available. Throughout the levels, players must collect juicy Smurfberries, which can restore health or increase their score, as well as discover other hidden items to aid their journey.

Each level is designed with its own unique challenges, requiring players to demonstrate dexterity and quick reflexes. At the end of certain areas or major stages, Papa Smurf will face intense boss battles, often against Gargamel himself or the contraptions/creatures he has created. Completing each stage brings you closer to your goal of rescuing all the Smurfs and restoring peace to the village.
