Introduce

Shougi 3 (Japan) (GBC) is a Japanese chess (Shogi) game for the Game Boy Color system, offering an authentic simulation experience of this complex strategic board game. The game fully adheres to traditional Shogi rules, including pieces such as the King (Ōshō), Rook (Hisha), Bishop (Kakugyō), Gold General (Kin), Silver General (Gin), Knight (Keima), Lance (Kyōsha), and Pawn (Fuhyō).

The core gameplay revolves around the player competing against the computer (AI), or potentially against another player (if a link cable mode is available, though GBC Shogi games typically focus on AI). The objective is to checkmate the opponent's King. A distinctive feature of Shogi compared to Western chess is the drop rule: when a piece is captured, it becomes a reserve piece for the capturing player and can be dropped back onto any empty square on the board. This significantly adds to the game's complexity and strategic depth.

Shougi 3 typically offers multiple AI difficulty levels, ranging from easy for beginners to learn the rules to extremely challenging for advanced players looking to hone their skills. The user interface on the GBC is designed to be clear and easy to navigate, with pieces clearly represented and move options intuitively displayed. Players can use the directional pad to select pieces and move them to the desired square. Features such as saving/loading games, replaying previous moves (undo), and basic rule tutorials may also be integrated to assist players.

The game focuses entirely on strategic thinking and move calculation. There are no action or adventure elements. This is an ideal title for those who enjoy board games, especially Shogi, and want a portable version to practice anytime, anywhere.
