Introduce
Sea Battle (GB) is a turn-based strategy game adapted from the classic "Battleship" board game. The primary objective of the game is to locate and sink all of your opponent's warships before they do the same to your fleet.
At the beginning of each match, players are required to strategically position their ships on a hidden grid. Ships come in various sizes, typically including: a Carrier, Battleship, Cruiser, Submarine, and Destroyer. Each type of ship occupies a specific number of squares on the grid (e.g., a Carrier might occupy 5 squares, a Destroyer 2 squares). Players must place these vessels strategically, ensuring they do not overlap and attempting to conceal their locations from the opponent.
Once both sides have deployed their fleets, the game proceeds to the attack phase. The player and the AI (or a second player if a link mode is available) take turns guessing coordinates on the opponent's grid to "fire" upon. When you select a square, the game will indicate the result: "Hit" if a part of an enemy ship is located there, or "Miss" if the square is empty. Fired-upon squares are marked to help players keep track. If a hit occurs, players typically do not get an extra shot (unlike some variations, traditional Battleship does not grant extra turns for a hit). The goal is to continue firing at adjacent positions around a hit to "discover" and sink the entire ship.
Once all squares of a particular ship have been hit, that ship is "sunk." The game continues until one player has successfully sunk all of their opponent's ships. Sea Battle (GB) on the Game Boy Color delivers the simple yet addictive experience of the original game, often featuring a single-player mode against an AI opponent or a two-player mode via a link cable, allowing players to challenge their friends.
