Power Spike - Pro Beach Volleyball is a sports simulation game focusing on 2-on-2 beach volleyball, released for the Game Boy Color system. Players control a pair of athletes, competing against other teams in thrilling matches under the sun and on golden sand.
The gameplay in Power Spike - Pro Beach Volleyball is quite intuitive, well-suited for the limited buttons of the GBC. You'll use the buttons to perform fundamental volleyball actions such as: serving, setting the ball for your teammate, and spiking to score points. Additionally, the ability to block at the net and dive to save the ball from opponent attacks are crucial.
The game offers several modes to choose from. The Exhibition Match mode allows you to quickly jump into a single game for practice or casual play. The Tournament (or Career) mode is where you'll guide your team through multiple rounds, facing increasingly challenging opponents to win the championship. Each team has its own stats and play style, requiring players to adapt their strategies accordingly.
Despite being a GBC game, the graphics of Power Spike - Pro Beach Volleyball still convey the atmosphere of a beach volleyball match with clearly designed characters and courts. The sound also contributes to the liveliness of each play.
