Pokemon de Panepon (Japan) (GBC)

In Pokemon de Panepon, players engage in an exciting puzzle game, based on the mechanics of Panel de Pon (also known as Tetris Attack/Puzzle League). The screen continuously fills with colorful blocks rising from the bottom. Your primary task is to horizontally swap two adjacent blocks to form a row or column of three or more identical blocks. When blocks are successfully matched, they disappear, and blocks above them fall to fill the empty space.

The key aspect of Pokemon de Panepon is creating continuous combo chains. When new blocks fall and automatically create further matches, you score higher points and trigger powerful effects. If you clear many blocks at once (a big clear) or create long combo chains, you will send "garbage blocks" down your opponent's screen in versus mode. The goal is to either fill your opponent's screen with garbage blocks or prevent your own screen from reaching the top, otherwise the game ends.

The game features multiple modes, including single-player for skill practice and versus modes against the computer or friends via link cable. With distinctive Pokémon graphics and sounds, Pokemon de Panepon offers a familiar yet strategic and competitive puzzle experience.
