Introduce
In Paperboy (GBC), players take on the role of an enthusiastic paperboy, whose mission is to ride a bicycle and deliver newspapers to the homes of registered customers. The game is presented from an isometric perspective, giving the feeling of cruising through a colorful suburban street.
Each delivery day presents a new challenge. You need to accurately throw newspapers into the mailboxes or onto the doorsteps of houses that subscribe to the service. This requires precise aiming and quick reaction times. However, the path is far from smooth. You will have to dodge countless dangerous and sometimes humorous obstacles, including: moving cars, aggressive dogs, roller skaters, playing children, open storm drains, lawnmowers, and even small tornadoes. Colliding with any obstacle will result in losing a life.
A unique aspect of Paperboy is the ability to 'vandalize' the property of non-subscribing houses. Throwing newspapers at their windows, lanterns, or other objects will grant bonus points, but can also get you into trouble if you miss or hit an unintended obstacle. The game spans a week, from Monday to Sunday. Each successful day unlocks the next, with increasing difficulty and more obstacles appearing.
At the end of each delivery day, players get to participate in a special training course. Here, you can throw newspapers at targets to accumulate additional bonus points. A high score is key to earning the title of the best 'Paperboy'. The GBC version of Paperboy retains the addictive core gameplay of the original arcade classic, but with graphics and controls adapted for the handheld platform, providing a thrilling and fun newspaper delivery experience anytime, anywhere.
