Introduce

Othello is a strategic board game for two players, often referred to as Reversi. The objective of the game is to have more of your colored discs on the board than your opponent when the board is full or no more valid moves are possible.

In Othello Millennium on the GBC, players will face off against the computer or another player (if a link cable feature is present, but typically it's against an AI). The game board is an 8x8 grid. Each player starts with two of their discs (one black, one white) placed diagonally in the center of the board.

Players take turns placing one of their discs on an empty square on the board. A valid move is one where the newly placed disc can "sandwich" at least one straight line of the opponent's discs between the new disc and another disc of the player's own already on the board.

When a line of opponent's discs is sandwiched, all those discs are flipped to the color of the player who just made the move. Sandwiches can occur horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

If a player has no valid moves, their turn is passed to the opponent. The game ends when all 64 squares on the board are filled or when neither player has any valid moves.

This Othello Millennium version likely includes different difficulty levels for the AI, allowing players from beginners to experienced strategists to find a suitable challenge. The GBC interface will be simple but clear, focusing on the core Othello gameplay. Players will use the GBC's controls to select the desired square for placing a disc. Despite being an older game, Othello Millennium still provides a deep strategic experience, requiring players to think several moves ahead and anticipate their opponent's reactions to secure victory.
