Introduce
In Kung-Fu Master (GB), players assume the role of Thomas, a martial arts expert, on a perilous mission to rescue his girlfriend Sylvia, who has been kidnapped by the mysterious crime lord Mr. X. The rescue takes place within a five-story pagoda filled with danger.
The gameplay of Kung-Fu Master (GB) is a classic side-scrolling beat 'em up. Players move from the left side of the screen to the right, confronting numerous enemies that emerge from both directions. Basic attacks include high punches, low punches, high kicks, low kicks, and jumping kicks. Each type of attack has varying effectiveness depending on the enemy's position and type.
Each floor of the pagoda represents a distinct level with a time limit. Players must overcome a variety of adversaries such as Grippers, Knife Throwers, and Tom Toms. At the end of each floor, Thomas will face a different boss, each possessing unique attack patterns and weaknesses. For instance, Floor Two features Moth, Floor Three has the Black Magician, Floor Four introduces Coffin, and finally, Mr. X awaits on the fifth floor.
Thomas's health bar depletes when he takes damage. Players need to effectively dodge and counter-attack to preserve their health. The health bar is fully replenished upon completing each floor. The game's difficulty progressively increases with each stage, demanding quick reflexes and sound strategy from the player to succeed.
The Game Boy version of Kung-Fu Master largely retains the essence of the original arcade classic, delivering a timeless action-fighting experience on a handheld device.
