In **Klax**, players control a paddle at the bottom of the screen, tasked with catching colored tiles that fall from a conveyor belt at the top. The primary objective is to arrange these tiles into horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines of three or more matching colors to clear them. When a line is formed, the tiles disappear, and you score points.

The conveyor belt continuously supplies tiles, and you have a small storage area (the "hold" or "stack" area) to temporarily place tiles before dropping them into the main playfield. This requires players to employ strategy and quick reflexes. Each level presents a specific objective, such as achieving a certain number of Klax (cleared tile clusters) or eliminating a specific quantity of tiles. If the storage area overflows or tiles fall off the screen without being caught, you lose a "life." The game progressively becomes more challenging as tile drop speeds increase and objective requirements become more complex. **Klax** on Game Boy Color faithfully retains the addictive gameplay of the original arcade version, offering a challenging puzzle experience on the go.
