The game revolves around arranging hexagonal pieces on a large hexagonal grid board. The primary objective is to form closed paths, also known as "loops," by connecting the edges of these pieces.
Each falling piece consists of two to four small hexagonal blocks, and each block has lines on its edges. As pieces fall from the top of the screen, players must move them left or right, rotate them to orient them correctly, and then drop them into the desired position on the board. It is crucial to ensure that the lines on the newly dropped pieces connect properly with the lines on the pieces already on the board.
When a complete closed loop is formed by the pieces, those pieces disappear from the board, and the player earns points. Larger or more complex loops typically yield higher scores. The challenge in Hexcite - The Shapes of Victory lies in managing the space on the board. If the board fills up and there is no more room to place new pieces, the game ends.
