Harvest Moon GB is a farm life simulation game where the player inherits an old, dilapidated farm and is tasked with restoring it to its former glory. The primary goals are to develop the farm, earn money, and eventually get married.

The gameplay of Harvest Moon GB centers around daily agricultural activities. Players begin by clearing land, tilling the soil, planting seeds, and watering crops. There are various types of crops that can be grown, each with its own season and value. Proper crop care is key to successful harvests.

In addition to farming, players can also raise livestock such as chickens and cows. Animal care involves feeding them, petting them, and collecting products like eggs and milk. These products can be sold for money or used in cooking recipes (though cooking is not a major focus in the GB version).

Another important element is time and resource management. Each day that passes in the game, the player has a certain amount of stamina to perform tasks. Running out of stamina will make the character tired and unable to work efficiently. Getting enough sleep and eating (though limited in the GB version) helps restore stamina.

The game also features seasonal events and festivals where players can participate to interact with other townspeople, build relationships, and sometimes win rewards. While the social element isn't as deep as in later installments, players can still marry one of the bachelorettes if they build enough relationship points.
