Introduce
Ganbare Goemon - Tengutou no Gyakushuu is a 2D action-adventure game for the Game Boy Color, continuing the legacy of the famous Goemon series. Players control the familiar quartet: Goemon, Ebisumaru, Yae, and Sasuke, each possessing unique abilities and weapons to overcome challenges.
The core gameplay focuses on navigating side-scrolling levels, combining platforming elements with combat. Goemon wields his signature kiseru pipe for close-range attacks and can throw coins as a long-range weapon. Ebisumaru, with his large build, uses a fan and has a powerful "belly flop" move. Yae, the beautiful kunoichi, fights with her sharp katana and can use a grappling hook to traverse obstacles. Finally, Sasuke, the ninja robot, throws shurikens and can hover in the air, allowing him to reach difficult areas.
Each stage is designed with numerous secrets, enemies, and small puzzles to solve. Players will collect coins and power-up items to upgrade their characters or purchase goods at shops. An overworld map allows players to travel between different areas on Tengu Island, unlocking new paths as the story progresses.
Challenging boss battles are a highlight, requiring players to master each character's skills and discover the enemy's weaknesses. The storyline is told through humorous and sometimes bizarre dialogues, true to the Goemon series' style. The game offers an engaging adventure with detailed pixel art graphics and cheerful music, characteristic of the Game Boy Color.
