Introduce
In Extreme Ghostbusters for Game Boy Color, players take on the role of the Ghostbusters team members, starting with Kylie Griffin, to combat a new surge of supernatural activity across New York City.
The primary gameplay is side-scrolling action. Your objective is to use your proton pack to weaken ghosts, and then deploy a ghost trap to capture them. Each ghost may have unique characteristics and attack patterns, requiring players to adapt their strategy.
Beyond combat, players need to explore various areas of the city, collect helpful items, and solve simple puzzles to progress. Puzzles often involve activating switches, finding keys, or utilizing the environment to open new paths.
As you complete missions or achieve certain progress, other Ghostbusters characters like Eduardo, Roland, and Garrett will be unlocked. While the core gameplay remains similar, each character might offer slight variations in abilities or characteristics.
The HUD displays your proton pack energy, character health, and the number of remaining ghost traps. Managing these resources is crucial for surviving through the levels. The ultimate goal is to clear out haunted areas and confront powerful boss ghosts at the end of each stage, ensuring New York's safety once again.
