Introduce
In Catrap, players control a character trapped in rooms filled with obstacles and enemies. The primary goal is to clear all enemies from the screen to advance to the next level. The unique and core mechanic of Catrap is the ability to rewind time. If you get stuck, make a wrong move, or even get defeated, you can easily rewind your actions to a previous point and try a different approach. This makes the game incredibly forgiving and encourages players to experiment without fear of failure.
The character can move left, right, jump, and push certain blocks. They can also fall through gaps. Enemies often require specific strategies to defeat, usually by pushing blocks onto them or trapping them. Levels progressively become more complex, introducing new block types, enemy behaviors, and environmental hazards.
Catrap demands careful planning and strong spatial reasoning from the player. Sometimes, a seemingly impossible level can be solved by an unconventional sequence of moves and rewinds. With its simple yet deep mechanics, the game offers hundreds of challenging puzzles.
