Introduce
In Youkai Douchuuki, players control the young boy Tarosuke on a challenging journey through Jigoku (the Underworld) to confront Lord Enma. This is an action-platformer with unique elements. Tarosuke can move, jump, and fire energy shots at enemies. Players can hold the attack button to charge up and unleash more powerful shots.
A key distinguishing feature of Youkai Douchuuki is its "Karma System." Every action Tarosuke takes in the game affects his Karma score. Defeating monsters, helping non-player characters (NPCs), or even shopping at stores can increase or decrease his Karma. High Karma makes Tarosuke stronger, potentially unlocking new abilities or leading to better endings. Conversely, low Karma can result in Tarosuke being weakened and facing dire consequences.
Throughout his adventure, Tarosuke will collect "Enma's Coins" from defeated enemies or treasure chests. These coins are used to purchase items at various shops, where players can find health recovery items, power-ups, or special spells. Shops are often run by friendly yokai or other mythical figures. The game features a variety of yokai based on Japanese folklore as enemies, each with their own attack patterns and weaknesses. Players must navigate through levels filled with traps, light puzzles, and challenging boss battles to delve deeper into the Underworld and complete their mission. The game encourages exploration and interaction to optimize Karma and achieve the desired ending.
