Introduce
Wai Xing Zhan Shi is a top-down action shooter game released for the NES console. In this game, players assume the role of a brave warrior, one of two selectable characters (typically Rick and Mary, similar to the original Alien Syndrome), with the mission to rescue teammates who have been captured by ferocious alien monsters. The game is set on a spaceship or space base that has been invaded, featuring various floors and areas.
Each stage of Wai Xing Zhan Shi begins with the player being dropped into a large, enemy-infested area. The primary objective is to find and rescue a specific number of teammates (usually 10) within a limited time frame. The teammates are held in prison cells or in hard-to-reach locations, requiring players to eliminate numerous monsters and navigate their way through. After rescuing enough teammates, a portal or exit will open, leading to a boss battle for that stage.
The gameplay of Wai Xing Zhan Shi focuses on non-stop shooting action. Players can move freely in eight directions and shoot in any direction. Initially, the character is equipped with a basic gun. However, throughout the game, players can collect various types of weapons from defeated enemies or dropped items. These weapons include the flamethrower, laser gun, rocket launcher, and spread gun. Each weapon has its own characteristics and range, helping players adapt to different combat situations. Picking up a new weapon will replace the current one, so players need to consider their strategy.
In addition to weapons, players can also pick up support items such as health to restore health, or temporary power-ups. The biggest challenge in Wai Xing Zhan Shi comes not only from the large number of enemies but also from the time limit. The constantly ticking countdown clock creates pressure, forcing players to move quickly and make timely decisions. If time runs out before enough teammates are rescued, the stage will be failed.
End-of-stage boss battles are often intense, requiring players to learn the boss's attack patterns and find their weaknesses to defeat them. The graphics of Wai Xing Zhan Shi feature the typical pixel art style of the NES, with diverse monster designs and detailed environments. The sound effects and background music also contribute to the tense and dramatic atmosphere of the game. Although an unofficial version, Wai Xing Zhan Shi still offers a challenging and engaging action-shooting experience for fans of the genre on the NES.
