Introduce

Takeshi no Chousenjou, often translated as Takeshi's Challenge, is an action-adventure game released for the Famicom (NES) in 1986. Infamous for its extreme difficulty and unconventional, often "trolling" gameplay, the game was designed under the supervision of Japanese entertainer Takeshi Kitano (under the pseudonym Beat Takeshi).

Players begin their journey as an ordinary Japanese salaryman. However, the game quickly allows for bizarre early decisions: you can quit your job, divorce your wife, and even punch anyone you encounter on the street. The gameplay doesn't follow a conventional structure; instead, it presents a series of disjointed activities and challenges, often without clear instructions.

Activities in the game include: singing karaoke (which required the player to sing into the Famicom controller's microphone), paragliding (notoriously difficult to control and prone to crashes), searching for treasure based on a mysterious map, and fighting yakuza members. To progress, players often have to perform illogical or unexplained actions, such as waiting for an hour on the title screen, pressing buttons on the second controller randomly, or even doing nothing at all for a specific period.

The ultimate goal of the game is to find the treasure, but the path to it is fraught with traps, sudden deaths, and nearly impossible-to-solve puzzles without a guide. Even the "final boss" is a significant surprise. Takeshi no Chousenjou is not just a game but a unique experience, a test of the player's patience and tolerance for frustration, cementing its legendary status among gamers.
