First up is Super Mario Bros, one of the most influential platformers of all time. Players control Mario (or Luigi in two-player mode) on a quest to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser. This game is often played using the Power Pad, a special controller mat that allows players to run in place to control their on-screen character. Events include sprinting, long jump, hurdles, and high jump. The goal is to achieve the best possible performance, beat computer opponents, and win gold medals. While playable with a standard controller, the Power Pad experience offers a much more immersive and fun feel, turning your living room into a miniature stadium.
