Introduce

In Snake's Revenge, players assume the role of agent Solid Snake, tasked with infiltrating an enemy base to prevent the launch of a new mass-destruction weapon. The gameplay of Snake's Revenge offers a unique blend of top-down perspective and side-scrolling sections, providing a diverse experience for players.

In the top-down areas, players guide Snake through corridors, rooms, and outdoor environments, with a strong emphasis on stealth. The primary goal is to avoid detection by enemies, using cover and the map layout to move discreetly. If detected, an alarm will sound, and enemies will intensify their search. Players can utilize various weapons such as pistols, rifles, and grenades to engage guards or neutralize them using non-lethal methods.

Side-scrolling segments typically occur when Snake enters specific areas like elevators or long corridors, significantly shifting the gameplay to a more action-oriented shooting game. In these sections, Snake can jump, crawl, and shoot in multiple directions to overcome obstacles and foes. Collecting items and equipment is crucial, including key cards to open doors, ammunition, body armor, and special gadgets like gas masks or night vision goggles.

A radio communication system also plays a vital role, allowing Snake to receive information and hints from allies or even from Big Boss, who was presumed dead in the previous installment. Snake's Revenge features challenging boss battles that require players to discover their opponents' weaknesses. Although it is a sequel to Metal Gear on the NES, Snake's Revenge has an independent storyline and development, not directly related to the later Metal Gear Solid series.
