Introduce
In Smash TV, players take on the role of a contestant in an extremely violent reality TV show. Your goal is to survive rooms filled with enemies and collect money and prizes. Although it's the NES version, the game simulates a twin-stick shooter style by using separate directional buttons for movement and firing. You can move in one direction and shoot in another, allowing for flexible combat.
Each stage is divided into multiple small rooms. Once you eliminate all enemies in a room, the doors will open, allowing you to proceed to the next. Enemies are diverse, ranging from simple infantry soldiers to robots, tanks, and dangerous war machines. They appear in waves, pressing the player from all sides.
To assist the player, the game offers various weapons and power-ups. You can pick up a spread gun, a powerful laser, grenades, rockets, or items like speed boosts, protective shields, or temporary invincibility. Managing and effectively using these items is key to surviving the challenging stages.
After a certain number of rooms, players will face a formidable boss, such as Mutoid Man or Scarface. Boss battles require skillful movement and the ability to dodge special attacks.
A highlight of Smash TV on NES is its 2-player cooperative mode. Two players can team up to overcome challenges together, creating chaotic yet effective on-screen action. The game encourages players to collect as much money as possible, as you'll eventually be rewarded with big prizes if you survive to the end. Smash TV is a fast-paced, challenging, and highly addictive arcade shooter experience.
