Introduce

Scarabeus is an engaging puzzle game developed for the NES, offering a unique twist on the familiar block-dropping genre. Unlike traditional puzzle games that often require forming complete horizontal or vertical lines, Scarabeus challenges players with a distinct and more intricate mechanic.

The primary objective in Scarabeus is to arrange multi-colored blocks that fall from the top of the screen. These blocks come in various shapes, similar to Tetrominoes, but each segment of a block can be a different color. Your task is to rotate and maneuver these falling blocks to strategically form a complete 2x2 square consisting of four cells of the exact same color. Once a 2x2 square of identical colors is formed, those cells will disappear from the screen, freeing up space and awarding points to the player.

Clearing multiple squares simultaneously or in quick succession will yield higher scores. The speed at which the blocks fall gradually increases over time or as you progress through levels, escalating the difficulty and demanding quicker reflexes. The game concludes when the stacked blocks reach the top of the screen, leaving no room for new blocks to descend. Scarabeus requires players to employ strategic thinking, planning abilities, and swift reactions to achieve the highest possible score.
