Introduce

In Route-16 Turbo, players control a car navigating a large, sprawling maze. Your primary objective is to collect all the money bags (which look like briefcases) scattered across the map before the time runs out. However, this task is far from easy.

The map continuously scrolls as you drive, giving the impression of a vast world. Players must contend with various obstacles and enemies. Most commonly, there are police cars relentlessly pursuing you. If hit by a police car, you lose a life. There are also other types of enemy vehicles that try to block your path or collide with you.

To survive and complete your mission, players can utilize special buildings within the maze. Some buildings can be entered to hide, allowing you to temporarily escape police pursuit. Other buildings offer tactical advantages:

  • Buildings with the letter P (Police): Entering these buildings changes your car's color, making you temporarily immune to police chase. This is a significant advantage for collecting money in dangerous areas.
  • Buildings with the letter S (Speed): These buildings boost your car's movement speed, which is very useful for escaping or moving faster.

Time is a critical factor in Route-16 Turbo. Each stage has a time limit, and you must collect enough money before the countdown reaches zero. The game also features a lives system; if you lose all your lives, it's game over. This "Turbo" version offers improved graphics and sound compared to the original "Route-16", creating a smoother and more engaging gameplay experience on the NES console.
