Introduce
In Rainbow Islands - The Story of Bubble Bobble 2, players control Bub or Bob, who have now transformed into humans. The primary objective is to ascend to the top of each island by moving vertically up the screen, avoiding obstacles and enemies.
Your main weapon is the rainbow. You can shoot rainbows to trap enemies. Once an enemy is trapped, you can run over them to defeat them. Rainbows can also be used as temporary platforms to climb higher or cross obstacles. You can shoot multiple rainbows in succession to form a "rainbow staircase."
Each island features multiple levels and diverse enemies. After defeating enemies, they will often drop items like fruits, diamonds, or power-ups. Collecting diamonds is crucial for achieving the true ending. Some power-ups enhance movement speed, strengthen your rainbows, or provide a protective shield.
At the end of each island, players will confront a boss. Defeating the boss unlocks the next island. There are a total of 7 islands, each with its unique theme. The NES version of Rainbow Islands maintains the addictive and challenging gameplay, requiring skill in utilizing rainbows to survive and explore.
