Introduce
Power Blade 2 is an action-platformer game developed by Natsume and released for the NES console. It is the sequel to the popular Power Blade.
Players control Nova, a security agent for the Federal Bureau, tasked with stopping the villainous Delta Corps who are plotting to use a weapon of mass destruction.
The core gameplay of Power Blade 2 retains the fast-paced, intense action style of its predecessor. Nova moves through side-scrolling levels, facing countless enemies and obstacles. Nova's primary weapon is an energy boomerang, which can be thrown in various directions.
The most significant highlight and improvement in Power Blade 2 compared to the first installment is the armor suit system. Players can collect and switch between four different types of armor suits, each granting Nova unique special abilities:
- Armor Suit: The basic suit, enhancing strength and defense.
- Fire Suit: Allows Nova to shoot powerful fire streams.
- Aqua Suit: Helps Nova swim faster and fire effectively underwater.
- Hyper Suit: Increases movement speed and jumping ability, making Nova more agile.
Choosing the right armor suit for each situation is key to overcoming difficult challenges. For example, the Aqua Suit will be very useful in underwater levels, while the Hyper Suit helps dodge boss attacks more easily.
The levels are diverse, ranging from military bases and abandoned factories to underwater and space areas. Each level features unique traps, enemies, and a challenging end boss.
The game has a total of 5 main stages, each ending with a boss battle. After defeating the first 4 bosses, players will face the final boss at the Delta Corps' headquarters.
The graphics of Power Blade 2 are highly praised on the NES, with well-drawn character and environmental details, along with appealing explosion and energy effects. The in-game music is also vibrant and fitting for the action pace.
Power Blade 2 offers a thrilling action experience, requiring players to have quick reflexes and good control skills to succeed. It is considered one of the best action games on the NES.
