Introduce

Perfect Bowling (Japan) is a sports game released for the NES console, offering an authentic bowling experience right on your TV screen. The objective of the game is no different from real-life bowling: players must roll a ball down the lane to knock down as many pins as possible, with the ultimate goal of achieving the highest score across 10 frames.

The gameplay of Perfect Bowling focuses on precision and strategic calculation. When it's your turn, the player is positioned at the throwing line. The first step is to adjust the ball's position and throwing angle. Using the left/right directional pad (D-pad), you can meticulously move your player and adjust the throwing direction, aiming for the gap between pins or a strategic position to achieve a strike or spare.

Once the direction is set, the next step is to determine the power of the throw. A power meter will move up and down on the screen. Players need to press the A button at the appropriate moment to select the desired throwing power. The stronger the throw, the faster the ball will travel and the greater its impact on the pins.

The unique and challenging aspect of Perfect Bowling lies in its ability to control the ball's spin or hook. Immediately after selecting the power, another meter will appear, allowing you to adjust the ball's spin. By pressing the B button at the right time, players can impart a spin effect to the ball, causing it to curve towards the end of the lane. Mastering this spin technique is key to achieving difficult strikes and spares, especially when the remaining pins are scattered.

The game employs a standard bowling scoring system, with concepts such as "strike" (knocking down all 10 pins on the first throw), "spare" (knocking down all 10 pins in two throws), and "open frame" (not knocking down all pins in two throws). Despite its simple 8-bit graphics typical of the NES, Perfect Bowling still delivers a satisfying feeling when you execute a perfect throw. The game can be played by one person or against the CPU, offering good replayability for those who enjoy bowling.
