Introduce

In Mr. Gimmick, players control the protagonist, Gimmick, an adorable green creature. The main objective is to navigate through challenging levels to rescue his owner, Mary, from evil forces. The core gameplay of Mr. Gimmick revolves around Gimmick's unique ability: creating and launching a star. This star is not only the primary weapon but also a versatile tool for solving the game's physics-based puzzles.

Players can charge the star to launch it further or with more power. The unique aspect lies in the game's advanced physics system; the star will interact with the environment, bouncing off surfaces with realistic trajectories, requiring players to calculate carefully. Mastering the star's trajectory is key to defeating enemies, activating switches, or reaching seemingly inaccessible areas.

The levels are intricately designed, filled with diverse enemies, dangerous traps, and many hidden secrets. Players need to perform precise jumps and strategically use the star to overcome obstacles. Additionally, Gimmick can find and utilize various magic items throughout his journey, such as fire magic, light, or jump boosts. These items are not only helpful in combat but also crucial for exploring secret areas and achieving the game's true ending.

Mr. Gimmick is renowned for its high difficulty, demanding patience and mastery of its mechanics. However, the European version of Mr. Gimmick is known to be slightly more forgiving than the original Japanese version (Gimmick!), offering more lives and continues, along with some minor adjustments to enemy placement, providing a slightly less brutal experience for players.
