Introduce
In Lemmings (USA) NES, players are tasked with guiding a horde of small, mindless creatures called lemmings from an entry point to a safe exit. The lemmings continuously walk forward, and the player must intervene by assigning them special skills to alter the terrain or their behavior.
Each level presents unique challenges with various environmental hazards such as cliffs, water, lava, and deadly traps. To overcome these obstacles, players have a limited set of skills they can apply to individual lemmings. These skills include: Climber (allows climbing walls), Floater (deploys a parachute to safely descend), Blocker (stops other lemmings, acting as a living obstacle), Builder (constructs a bridge), Basher (digs horizontally), Miner (digs diagonally downwards), Digger (digs straight down), and Bomber (self-destructs to create a path). Using the correct skill at the right moment is crucial to saving the required number of lemmings before time runs out or all lemmings are lost.
The objective of each stage is to save a specific percentage of lemmings. The game demands strategic thinking, careful planning, and quick reflexes. The NES version of Lemmings retains the core gameplay but may feature adjustments in graphics, sound, and level design to suit the console's hardware capabilities.
