Introduce
In Knight Rider (USA) for the NES, players take on the role of Michael Knight and control the intelligent car K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand) through a series of crime-fighting missions. The game is primarily a driving game with a top-down perspective, occasionally switching to a behind-the-car view when K.I.T.T. activates its Turbo Boost mode.
Each mission begins with Michael receiving instructions from Devon Miles. Missions typically involve pursuing and destroying enemy vehicles, or infiltrating criminal strongholds. K.I.T.T. is equipped with several special abilities to assist the player. The Turbo Boost mode allows K.I.T.T. to accelerate suddenly, bypassing obstacles or dodging attacks. Ski Mode (driving on two wheels) helps the car navigate narrow passages or overcome barriers. K.I.T.T. can also utilize various weapons like lasers or missiles to destroy enemy vehicles.
Players need to manage K.I.T.T.'s Energy and Fuel gauges. Colliding with obstacles or being attacked by enemies will deplete energy. When energy runs low, K.I.T.T. will be destroyed. Running out of fuel also results in mission failure. Players can collect energy and fuel icons on the road to replenish them. Additionally, K.I.T.T. features a Scan Mode which allows players to view the area map and enemy locations.
The missions in Knight Rider (USA) are quite varied, ranging from chasing down criminal tanks and trucks to destroying secret bases. Occasionally, players will face boss battles against particularly powerful special vehicles. The ultimate goal is to complete all missions and defeat the criminal organization to bring peace.
