Joe & Mac (USA)

Joe & Mac is a side-scrolling action platformer that puts players in the shoes of two brave cavemen, Joe and Mac, on a quest to rescue the women of their tribe who have been kidnapped by a group of Neanderthals and dinosaurs. The game can be played in either single-player or two-player cooperative mode, with each character having a distinct color and starting weapon.

The primary objective of each stage is to navigate through obstacles, defeat enemies, and ultimately confront a boss at the end of each area. Enemies include a variety of dinosaurs, other prehistoric humans, and various prehistoric creatures. Players will utilize a range of weapons, initially starting with a stone axe or boomerang, and then being able to pick up more powerful armaments such as bones, fire, stone wheels, or a slingshot firing rocks. Each weapon has its own characteristics and range.

Throughout the game, players can collect food items to restore health and various power-ups. A distinctive feature of Joe & Mac is the ability to switch between different weapon types to combat foes. Players can jump, attack, and sometimes perform special attacks. The stages are diverse, ranging from jungles, volcanoes, waterfalls, to icy caves, each presenting unique challenges and enemies. The vibrant graphics and cheerful music contribute to an engaging gameplay experience, making Joe & Mac a classic title on the NES console.
