Introduce
Jangou is a classic electronic Mahjong game released for the Famicom/NES system in Japan. This game focuses entirely on the traditional Mahjong experience, allowing players to engage in Mahjong matches against the computer.
The main objective in Jangou, like regular Mahjong, is to form valid sets of tiles from the 14 tiles in your hand. Players will take turns drawing and discarding tiles, attempting to complete various yaku (scoring patterns) and achieve the highest possible score. The game's interface is designed to be simple yet intuitive, clearly displaying the player's hand, the discarded tiles (river), and any called sets (pon, chi, kan).
Players can perform basic Mahjong actions such as "Tsumo" (self-drawn win), "Ron" (winning from another player's discard), "Pon" (claiming a triplet from another player), "Chi" (claiming a sequence from the player to your left), and "Kan" (claiming a quad). Scoring rules and yaku are applied according to Japanese Mahjong (Riichi Mahjong) standards. The game challenges the player's decision-making, strategy, and luck in building strong hands and anticipating the AI opponent's moves.
Jangou does not feature a complex storyline or adventure mode, but rather concentrates solely on recreating the pure Mahjong experience. It is an ideal title for Mahjong enthusiasts who wish to practice their skills on the classic NES platform.
