Introduce
Igo Shinan is a classic Go game for the NES, offering a deep strategic experience of the ancient board game. Players will face off against the computer to hone their skills and strategic thinking.
The gameplay of Igo Shinan adheres to the fundamental rules of Go. On a grid board, two sides alternately place stones (one side black, one side white) on empty intersections. The primary objective is to control as much territory as possible by surrounding empty areas with your stones.
A crucial aspect is capturing opponent's stones. When a group of stones is completely surrounded by opponent's stones and has no more "liberties" (adjacent empty intersections), they are removed from the board. This creates dramatic "captures" that can significantly alter the game's flow.
The game demands players to have foresight, the ability to anticipate opponent's moves, and long-term planning. From building "eyes" to protect stones, to dividing opponent's territory or launching surprise attacks, Igo Shinan is an excellent tool for Go enthusiasts to practice and improve their game.
