Introduce

Ice Hockey on the NES is a classic ice hockey game that offers an exciting arcade sports experience. Players control a team of 5 players (including the goalie) in fast-paced matches.

A unique aspect of Ice Hockey is the ability to customize your team by selecting different player types: skinny, normal, and fat players. Each player type has distinct characteristics:

  • Skinny players: The fastest and best at passing, but have weaker shots and are easily knocked off the puck.
  • Normal players: Balanced in terms of speed, passing, and shooting abilities.
  • Fat players: Slow but possess the strongest shots and are difficult to knock off the puck.

You can choose any combination of the 4 on-ice players (excluding the goalie) to create your own strategy. For example, you might opt for four skinny players for maximum speed, or four fat players for powerful shots.

The gameplay of Ice Hockey is straightforward yet addictive. Players use the A button to shoot and the B button to pass the puck. When defending, the A button is used for checking, and the B button to attempt to steal the puck. The goalie is primarily controlled by AI, but players can exert some influence by moving players near the net. The game follows basic hockey rules, including periods and penalties (such as checking from behind) which result in power plays. You can play solo against the CPU or against a friend in the two-player mode, adding to the competitiveness and fun.
