Introduce
Hollywood Squares on the NES console is a quiz game based on the popular American television game show of the same name. The objective of the game is to win a tic-tac-toe match by correctly judging the answers given by celebrities. Players will face off against a computer opponent or another human player, attempting to form three consecutive squares (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) on a nine-square board, with each square representing a celebrity.
When it's their turn, the player will select a celebrity on the board. This celebrity will then be asked a question and provide an answer. The answer can often be a factual statement, a witty remark, or a misleading assertion. The player's task is to decide whether the celebrity's answer is true or false (AGREE or DISAGREE). If the player makes the correct judgment, that celebrity's square will be marked with the player's symbol (X or O). Conversely, if the judgment is incorrect, the square will go to the opponent.
The game continues turn by turn until one player achieves three in a row or the entire board is filled. Consecutive rounds are played, and scores accumulate. The NES version of Hollywood Squares faithfully recreates the atmosphere of the original TV show, with pre-programmed questions and answers, providing an element of entertainment and challenging general knowledge. While the graphics and sound are simple by NES standards, the gameplay remains engaging, requiring players not only to have general knowledge but also a strategy in choosing squares to block the opponent and create winning lines for themselves.
