Introduce
Dr. Mario is a classic puzzle game developed by Nintendo, first released on the NES console. In the game, players take on the role of Mario, now a doctor, who must eradicate various types of viruses proliferating within a medicine bottle.
The primary objective of the game is to eliminate all the different colored viruses (red, blue, yellow) that appear in the bottle. Players control multi-colored capsules (each capsule consisting of two different colored halves) that fall from the top of the screen. Your task is to rotate and move these capsules so they fall into appropriate positions, forming a line or column of at least four matching colored blocks. These blocks can be capsule halves or viruses. When four or more blocks of the same color are aligned horizontally or vertically, they disappear, helping you clear the bottle.
Capsules fall continuously, and players need to think quickly to arrange them effectively. If the medicine bottle fills up to the top, the game ends. The game's difficulty can be adjusted by selecting the capsule drop speed and the initial number of viruses. Once you complete a stage by eliminating all viruses, you advance to the next stage with more viruses and faster speeds.
Dr. Mario also features a two-player mode (VS 2P), where two players can compete against each other to see who can eliminate viruses faster. In this mode, when one player creates combos or clears multiple blocks at once, "garbage" blocks can be sent to the opponent's screen, adding to the strategic and competitive aspect. It's an addictive and highly challenging puzzle game, requiring skillful arrangement and strategic thinking.
