Introduce

Crash 'n' the Boys - Street Challenge is a unique NES game that combines sports and violent action, featuring the distinctive Chibi art style of the Kunio-kun series. The game is not a traditional sports title but rather a series of diverse street challenges where players control Kunio and his team to defeat opponents.

Each challenge in Crash 'n' the Boys - Street Challenge is a different event, but they all share one commonality: you can punch, kick, and use special moves to take down your opponents. The events include:

  • 400 Meter Hurdles: This is not just a regular hurdle race. Players must run and jump over obstacles while also being able to attack other competitors to hinder them. The goal is to finish first, and eliminating opponents is a valid strategy.
  • Hammer Throw: Instead of throwing a hammer, you'll throw a timed bomb or another heavy object. More importantly, you can throw the bomb at opponents to deal damage or eliminate them from the competition, making it more of a survival battle than a sports event.
  • Swimming: The swimming event in this game is far from peaceful. Players can punch and kick underwater to slow down opponents or get them disqualified. Swimming requires rhythmic control and precise attack capabilities.
  • Judo: This is a direct combat event. Players face an opponent in a judo match, but with exaggerated moves and the ability to strike opponents while they are down. The goal is to defeat opponents with throws or powerful attacks.
  • All-Around: This is the final and most comprehensive challenge. Players must navigate a long course filled with various obstacles and opponents. This is where all skills in attacking, jumping, and dodging are put to the test. Players can pick up and throw objects, use punches and kicks to clear the way and reach the finish line.

Each event has its own rules, but the overall spirit is "no rules" when it comes to using violence to win. Players can collect power-ups or temporary weapons along the way. The game's graphics are simple yet effective, with expressive characters and clear attack effects. The music is energetic and fits the chaotic atmosphere of the game. The ultimate goal is to win all events to prove Kunio's team is the strongest.
